Mari Sweaters Patterns
Mari Dembrow began Mari Sweaters 30 years ago, in 1977, in Eugene Oregon. The business sold hand knitted sweaters to a local clientele. Over the years, the business grew and Mari's husband, Mark, joined in. Hand operated Italian knitting looms were purchased, and sales expanded over much of the Northwest, California and beyond. Eventually, sweaters were sold through a large national catalog, which used Mari Sweaters as an emblem of their commitment to the highest quality, home based, designer products. The specialty of the business became special orders - designing patterns for individuals who did not fit into the standard sizes. Over the years, hundreds of special order patterns were filed away. In 1986, Mari published a knitting/crochet book on pattern design: "Better Sweaters: The Step By Step Guide to Drafting Your Own Patterns." In 2002, the pattern business was launched, offering the same design styling that made the sweater business a success. The overarching philosophy of the designs has been and remains a focus on classically styled, tailored knitwear. Its hallmarks are good structure and good fit, with firmly knitted stitches (using smaller than usual needles)to ensure a longer lasting product. In addition, they offer proper assembly techniques, which they were taught by a leading couturier. The sizable pattern collection satisfies the needs of both beginning and experienced knitters. A Mari Sweater fits and it flatters.
